Big idea: the first number stays 10, and the answer gets bigger each time.
So if we see 10 + 4, we add 10 more. The answer is 14.
Read each row slowly. Point with your finger if that helps. We want your eyes, ears, and brain to work together.
Read each line: 10 plus something equals the total.
We will show each sum one part at a time.

10 → + → 1 → = → 11
After the answer appears, read the whole sentence aloud:
Ten plus one equals 11.
Start with 10 + 1 and go all the way to 10 + 10.

Because these are in order, you can notice the pattern: the answers keep growing as the second number grows.

Here is the whole trick in one sentence:
When you add 10, the total gets 10 bigger.
If the second number is 8, then 10 + 8 = 18.
If the second number is 10, then 10 + 10 = 20.
