Welcome!

Meet Raina the Rain Cloud! ☁️

Hello, little weather explorer! πŸ‘‹

My name is Raina, and I float high in the sky carrying tiny drops of water.

Sometimes I look fluffy and white. Sometimes I grow dark and heavy. And when I cannot hold all my drops anymore... it rains!

Today I will show you the secret path of water β€” from the sea, to the sky, to the cloud, and back to Earth again.

Ready? Let's follow one tiny drop and see where it goes! πŸ’§

Chapter 1

What Is Rain? πŸ€”

Rain is water that falls from clouds in the sky.

But rain does not begin in the cloud. It begins with water on Earth β€” in seas, lakes, rivers, puddles, and wet ground.

The Sun warms that water. Then the water starts a big journey called the water cycle.

A cycle is something that goes around and around. Water keeps moving in a giant loop!

🌞 ➜ πŸ’§ ➜ ☁️ ➜ 🌧️
The Water Cycle
🌊 Water starts on Earth
⬆️ Water rises into the air
☁️ Clouds form in the sky
πŸ” The journey repeats again

Step 1

🌞 The Sun Starts Everything

Imagine a small puddle after a rainy day. When the Sun shines on it, the puddle starts to warm up.

Some of the water changes into an invisible gas called water vapour.

This change is called evaporation. That is a big word, but it simply means: liquid water turns into water vapour and rises.

You cannot always see water vapour, but it is there, floating up into the air.

🌞

πŸ”₯ Heat gives it energy
⬆️ Vapour rises upward
πŸ‘€ Vapour is hard to see
🌟 Fun Fact!
Clothes drying on a line are using evaporation too. The water in the clothes rises into the air! πŸ‘•β˜€οΈ
p.4
Step 2

⬆️ Water Rises Into the Sky

Once water becomes water vapour, it floats up into the air.

Higher in the sky, the air is cooler. That cooler air helps the water change again.

So the tiny drop from the puddle keeps rising and rising, almost like it is going on a sky ride!

This is why we say the Sun helps water begin its journey.

Step 3

☁️ Clouds Begin to Form

When water vapour reaches cooler air, it changes again into tiny water drops.

This is called condensation.

Condensation means water vapour cools down and turns back into tiny liquid drops.

Lots of these tiny drops gather together, and that makes a cloud!

🌟 Fun Fact!

Step 4

πŸ’§ Tiny Drops Join Together

Inside the cloud, tiny drops keep bumping into one another.

When they join, they grow bigger and heavier.

At first, the cloud can still hold them. But as the drops keep growing, the cloud gets too heavy.

That is when the next big weather moment happens!

Step 5

🌧️ Rain Falls Down

When the water drops become too heavy, they fall from the cloud to Earth.

This falling water is called precipitation.

When the air is warm, precipitation falls as rain.

So rain is really just water finishing one part of its giant sky journey! 🌧️

🌟 Fun Fact!
The same water on Earth has been moving around for a very, very long time. Some rain you see today may have been part of the sea, a river, or even a dinosaur’s puddle long ago! πŸ¦•πŸ’§

Chapter 2

❄️ Rain, Snow, or Hail?

Not all precipitation looks the same.

If the air is warm, water falls as rain.

If the air is very cold, water can fall as snow, sleet, or hail.

So precipitation is the big idea, and rain is one kind of precipitation.

🌱 Why Rain Is Important

Rain helps the whole world.

It gives water to plants, animals, rivers, lakes, and people.

Without rain, many plants would dry up. Rivers would get smaller. Animals would struggle to find water to drink.

So when you hear rain tapping on the roof, remember β€” it is doing an important job! πŸŒ§οΈπŸ’š

🚰 Helps people too
🌟 Fun Fact!
Some forests make their own rain! Trees release water into the air, which helps clouds form above them. 🌳☁️

βœ… What We Learned

Let's check the whole journey one more time:

1. The Sun warms water.

2. Water changes into water vapour and rises.

3. Cooler air causes condensation.

4. Tiny drops gather into clouds.

5. Big heavy drops fall as precipitation.

6. Water gathers again on Earth and the cycle repeats!
