Big idea: when we multiply by 4, we count in 4s.
So if we see 4 × 4, we think: “4, 8, 12, 16.” The answer is 16.
Read each row slowly. Point with your finger if that helps. We want your eyes, ears, and brain to work together.
Read each line: 4 times something equals a bigger count in 4s.

After the answer appears, read the whole sentence aloud:
4 times one equals 4.
Start with 4 × 1 and go all the way to 4 × 12.
